[solved] wine 0.9.9 and fonts

Hi,

since i have updated wine from 0.9.8 to the latest ebuild, i don't have any fonts. I used to install sidenet to get all basic stuff, but on a fresh wine install with or without sidenet i don't have fonts displayed at all. I reinstalled it now with truetype useflag switched on, but without a change. And as far as i can say, the changelog doesn't mention something, or i simply missed it.

My system: amd64 with gcc-3.4.5 and glibc-2.3.6-r3

Wine should just use fonts from /usr/share/fonts. What do you have in .wine/drive_c/windows/fonts/?

The fonts folder is empty. If i install sidenet, there are 4 fonts installed, but still same problem that the font isn't displayed.

Maybe try winetools and install all you need:)

Forgot about winetools, was only using sidenet. So i installed it, entered the Base Setup and choosed there to install the Arial TrueType Fonts, now all is working normal. I don't know why these fonts are now needed by wine but at least the fonts are back!

What exactly do you mean when you say you don't have any fonts? Does text in menus, dialogs etc. show up? Or is it the font selection dialog which fails to list fonts?

Uh, didn't see your post, glad it worked out. Strange though, if windows/fonts is empty wine should use the fonts from /usr/share/fonts. At least it works for me with wine 0.9.9.
