Heres a question: Is it possible to remove packages from the world file without unmerging them? For example, my current emerge -up world lists this
Code: | [ebuild U ] sys-libs/glibc-2.3.2-r1 [2.3.1-r4]
[ebuild U ] sys-devel/gcc-config-1.3.3-r1 [1.3.1]
[ebuild U ] sys-devel/gcc-3.2.2-r2 [3.2.2]
[ebuild U ] x11-base/xfree-4.3.0-r2 [4.3.0-r1]
[ebuild N ] net-misc/dhcpcd-1.3.22_p4 |
Well, honestly, I don't want to emerge any of those packages. I'd really like to not mess with glibc or gcc as I've read many problems arise with doing so. Xfree is basically current, r-1 rather than r-2.. its fine. dhcpcd is completly unnecessary for my network setup and I don't need it at all. I'd really like to be able to remove this stuff, glibc and gcc specifically, from my world file so that I can do an emerge -u world in the future and let it go without worrying that its going to update something I don't want it to.
Is this possible? |
