I've installed Gentoo ok. Now I want to install some stuff from CD, but can't mount the CD. I've checked the kernel config has the approriate support in (I think)

Any ideas, what I am doing that's dumb?

What's the command you're using to mount the cd?

I've tried

mount /mnt/cdrom -t iso9660
mount /dev/cdroms/cdrom0 /mnt/cdrom -t iso9660
mount /dev/cdroms/cdrom0 /mnt/cdrom -o ro -t iso9660

In the /dev folder i cannot see any cdrom devices listed. Why would this be?

Thanks for any help!

I am really stuck with this. It just says 'No medium' whatever, but I know the cd's are fine.

is gentoo different to other *nix's in the way you mount?

yep

I think it is to do with the way I wrote the CD. I wrote them on a Windoze machine and I'm not sure the kernel has Joliet support built in?

That's what I'm thinking anyway, but I'll keep invstigating.

Not at that server at the moment, but it was basically

'No media inserted'

I think it's the format the CD was written in?!? I'll check tonight
