Perhaps you like it too!

I'm assuming you want to run streaming video content on your console?

Mplayer (http://www.mplayerhq.hu/ ) does that if you specify the framebuffer on the command line. From memory, use "-vo" for video options and select "fbuf" (or something similar) from the options.

Right now i am looking for .... console screensavers... does anyone knows of any ?
Not something that just turns the screen black after some time; but something that "moves"... kinda like the ones for X.

I dont think this is available in the portage system, but it's awsome. It can be used as a console screensaver too.

Agreed. I've hated every console IM client that I've tried, and it seems like it'd be annoying having a different one for every protocol. bitlbee married to irssi solves that nicely.

Other console apps I use every day:

newsbeuter - I used to use raggle but found this one to be much better
mpd/mpc/ncmpc - Pretty much my favorite audio player
mc - Good filemanager when I need to select files in bulk
links2 - I used to use elinks, but I like being able to view images in a console framebuffer

mutt - Simply the best email client
wyrd - An excellent ncurses calendar that sits on top of remind. I like it because it doesn't hide the power of remind like most GUIs do, but does provide useful views/features such as being able to enter events in normal language and have them automatically mapped (ex. "day after tomorrow meeting at 5pm").
