this lcms-1.09 package keeps giving me errors saying it's corrupted and the digest is wrong. It happens when I tried to emerge kde or gnome. I tried deleting the file and fetching again, but that doesn't seem to make it go away. What am I to do??

Hi i'm having the exact same problem, i'm assuming it's a corrupt file on the mirror as it keeps giving the same error.
I've noticed it apears to download the file succesfully from gentoo.oregonstate.edu but then imediatly tries to resume the file from distro.ibiblio.org which claims the file is complete so nothing to do, but then it apears to resume from yet another mirror (www.littlecms.com) this time retreaving some more data and increasing the filesize from 181,083b to 192,593. Then when it does the digest check it borks.
Any ideas what's going on? is this a file inconsistency on some mirrors, in which case is there a way to bypass these mirrors and retreave the correct file?
Edit: oh just noticed littlecms.com is the homepage of lcms, gona try manualy downloading the file from various places to see if i can get it working. |

I downloaded the file from littlecms, the ver 1.09 file and put it in /usr/portage/distfile and tried emerging again, this times the md5 digest checks out and merged it. I'm a happy man again.

Ok i've managed to work around it on my system, this should work for you although i dont know if this is the correct thing to do, but it all seems to be going smoothly now.
What i did:
* Deleted the corrupt download /usr/portage/distfiles/lcms-1.09.tar.gz
* Manualy downloaded lcms from http://www.littlecms.com/lcms-1.09.tar.gz
* Moved the manualy downloaded file into /usr/portage/distfiles/
* Started the emerge again: emerge kde
That seems to have solved the problem.

You guys rock. I've been beating my forhead against this problem off and on for a week and had finally decided that it wasn't worth the effort. Until I needed to load NeverWinter Nights that is gotta have priorities. I fetched the distfile from littlecms, set the perms to 644 and emerge did the rest. Thanks again! |

There appears to be a corrupt version on some of the mirrors. I was able to get a good emerge from the purdue mirror.
Cheers,

I'm having this problem when trying to emerge mod_php... manually putting lcms 1.10 or 1.09 did NOT solve this problem. I'm at a total loss here... I'm trying to setup a web-mail server with squirrelmail.. shouldn't rsync fix these kind of issues? I'm going to just download and compile mod_php manually...:-/
EDIT: emerge sync fixes it _________________ only the paranoid survive |
