I recompiled my kernel a while back....and now wonder...Am I running on 1 processor or 2? I have a Dual Athlon MP system...but I remember that under the CPU(s) there were 2 processors...not just 1...
I made sure I compiled SMP into the kernel....is this TOP right?

Try running 'top' and pressing '1' when in it (no quotes!). That will show you the load on both your processors.
If one processor is at 0%, you know only one is being used. |

I also have a Dual Athlon system
you can check the output of dmesg | more
that'll tell you if both CPU's are recognized by kernel on bootstrap. |
