After an emerge of dovecot-1.0_beta2, there are no files for pop3. Configuration file examples show pop3, but equery files dovecot shows no sign. Should this be reported as a bug? Thanks,
Fred

Beta3 is a huge improvement there are now "some" pop3 files. Unfortunately not enough of them so that it actualy works. :(

Do you have the pop3d USE flag set? Because it was changed from nopop3d some time ago so you need to explicitly enable pop3 support now.

Many thanks, that was the problem. On the chance that others are able to find confusion where I did, the use flags at http://www.gentoo.org/dyn/use-index.xml are not complete and don't include pop3d or lots of others. A more complete list is at http://www.gentoo-portage.com/USE

This thread helped me, too, but not without about an hour's worth of Googling and wiki-reading and conf fiddling. In addition to dispatch-conf, I had to add an explicit listen statement in my protocol pop3 {} section, as well as reconfigure my authentication.

THANKS!!!! Hours of useless seeking, trying, reading lots of useless documentation, and at last I found this very good remark!

Met vriendelijke groeten, Wim van Dorst
