well, as I'm becoming more and more spoiled with portage, I've somehow switched all my PC's to gentoo, including my linux boxes at work! Is it wrong to be so specialized??? I noticed yesterday I couldn't solve an NFS Server problem on my slackware machine, so I bumped it and am currently setting it up as a gentoo box... I'm starting to lose touch with those other distros and how they treat things... I'd like to eventually get certified with Linux (CompTIA, I think  ), but is specializing in only gentoo going to hinder that? I mean, portage is just so easy... and then there's 'rc-update' which makes it even easier...
I am striving to chroot all my vunerable services which is forcing me to learn alot, which is helping, but do I need to be more well-versed in the linux distro arena? Would you guys/gals happen to have any suggestions as to not lose touch with the way other distros work?

| Start writing ebuilds, this way you learn about what they actually do and you should be able to do the same without their help. |

| You could also build a LFS under usermode linux or in vmware. |
