I noticed that since upgrading to openoffice 2, when I close writer I still see soffice in my process list. I discovered this when I saw my CPU was varying between 0% and 100% when I wasn't running any apps. I checked the process list and there was soffice. Killing it solved the problem.
Anyone else experience this? |

Yep. Same here. I'm using OO 2.0 compiled from source, not openoffice-bin. I was running openoffice-bin for a while and I don't recall having the problem, although I just may not have noticed it. _________________ Chris |

| Someone should post a bug. Unfortunately, I can't find the OO bugzilla or whatever it is. |

Same problem at my place (OOo 2.01, compiled from source).
Even after closing OOo, processes are left over eating almost 100% of CPU time
Get the impression that these zombies especially linger around after cases where OOo crashed ...
"kill -9" frees the system from this load - afterwards it is in a normal condition again.

See http://www.openoffice.org/issues/query.cgi .
issue 1207 is concerning versions pre-1.1 and has been closed as being fixed in v1.1.
Besides this one, I didd't find anything currently up-to-date about this problem in here yet - but please check again.
I have opened a bug report in our Gentoo Bugzilla: https://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=120662
