ArchCK is a patchset based on the CK patchset. ArchCK aims to include a variety of popular features and updates that have not yet made it to the vanilla kernel, without compromising stability. Con Kolivas' CK patchset is the most important part of ArchCK, as it provides the great interactivity and responsiveness improvements.

Sorry for another late release. I've been making the most of my last big school holidays before my last year of school and the work involved and didnt want to rush out a crappy release. Thanks for the nagging too guys :)

This release feels, good Con's dynticks work seems to be working fine here. Please email me with any problems, suggestions or feedback. I love getting feedback in my inbox.

Apply this patch to 2.6.15.

Thanks iphitus!

Running from your patchset as I type this very message. Works great and the patched rlocate module builds cleanly against it. More than worth the wait and very much appreciated.

Everything patched and compiled cleanly. Haven't tested it extensively, but so far everything is fast and stable. 8) I've been switching back and forth between preempt desktop and no preempt (low-latency desktop seemed to cause some inconsistencies under heavy load... ofcourse I can't be sure that was it since I'm running e17 which is pre-alpha). So far I'm leaning toward preempt desktop (based on experiances with 2.6.14-archck4/7) as it gives me much better responsiveness durning encodes and I have never experianced the music skipping that some people complain about with preempt, but I will test further. As usual this kernel patch-set is top-notch quality and was well worth the wait (I would rather wait a few extra days for a quality kernel than getting a hastily thrown together kernel earlier). Thank you, iphitus. Your work is greatly appreciated. :D

I finally got my PX-716SA sata dvd burner working!! thanks great patchset!!
It's fully working now but dmesg reports some errors still:
Code:

Assertion failed! qc->n_elem > 0,drivers/scsi/libata-core.c,ata_fill_sg,line=2482

By the way could you add the sky2 network card driver to your patchset? This is where I found the patch: http://sources.gentoo.org/viewcvs.py/linux-patches/genpatches-2.6/trunk/2.6.15/

Thanks again :)

I just switched to 2.6.15-archck1 from 2.6.14-archck7 and now my fbsplash is not working? It works perfectly with 2.6.14-archck7. Is anyone else having this problem? Any ideas on how to fix it? Thanks.

Since upgrading from 2.6.14-archck3 my alsa has stopped working, I can't remember the error message as I'm in windows. Advice please? I'll try post the error message later if anyone wants it.

It's been thoroughly doscussed in the nitro-sources thread, you might want to update your udev and base-layout to newest ~x86

You can use
http://iphitus.loudas.com/arch/ck/${KV%%-*}/patch-${KV}.bz2"

instead of:
http://iphitus.loudas.com/arch/ck/2.6.15/patch-${KV}.bz2"

So you will have null diff :) and new version will be only a symlink.:> It always bugs me. Why portage doesn't use symlinks.....

Is anyone using this patchset and fbsplash sucessfully? It used to work with the 2.6.14-archck7? I made sure it was enabled in the kernel and I tried recompiling the kernel and splashutils. Should I put my .config and/or emerge --info ? thanks

My grub.conf is :
Code:
loser@System ~ $ cat /boot/grub/grub.conf
default 0
timeout 5
splashimage=(hd0,0)/boot/grub/splash.xpm.gz

When I first compiled this, fbsplash wasn't working, but it turned out I'd forgotten to enable vesafb and fbsplash, as a lot of things had been reset to default. Just make sure you've enabled everything you had in the previous version.

Works perfect here. I'm on amd64 and using vesafb. Here is my grub.conf:
Code:
kernel /vmlinuz root=/dev/sda1 video=vesafb:ywrap,mtrr vga=0x31B
splash=verbose,theme:MetallTux quiet

Hi,

hm, fbsplash is working, but I have problems with the so called "early bootup" thingy. Created a new initrd-fbsplash with
Code:
splash_geninitramfs -g /boot/initrd-fbsplash -r 1024x768 default
, but it does not show up during "during early stages of the boot-up process".
If I boot 2.6.14-archck7 the same initrd-fbsplash works fine. Is there something broken? Maybe the processing of initrds doesn't work.
I have
Code:
CONFIG_RAMFS=y
. Did I miss something?

thanxalot, works.
although I had to apply the change manually, because my Makefile looks slightly different at that location.

Oops, sorry. I had tried several other things before finding this fix, and it's quite possible that i didn't went exactly back to a standard 2.6.15-archck1 before generating this patch...

After TGL patch, the only thing that i'm experimenting with new archck is that my X Server does not find my evdev mouse... This is the log:

Code:
(**) MX1000: Core Pointer
(**) MX1000: Device: "/dev/input/event1"
(EE) Unable to open evdev device "/dev/input/event1".
(EE) PreInit failed for input device "MX1000"
(II) UnloadModule: "evdev"

   *** If unresolved symbols were reported above, they might not
   *** be the reason for the server aborting.

Backtrace:
0: /usr/bin/X(xf86SigHandler+0x92) [0x4489a2]

What has changed? Maybe I need to upgrade udev?

Thanks a lot!!

And also... thanks for the patchset iphitus! I've been using this since 2.6.14-archck1 and it's rock-solid here.
