Lost Ctr + Alt + F[123456..] xorg 7.

Hi all,
I have just install modular Xorg with my Fresh Gentoo installation, but after X start all Ctrl+Alt+Fx have no effect. I have spend the whole day for solving this but no result. Any body who know about this then please help me please.

When I am in xterm window, press Ctrl+Alt+F1 then the command line display P, Ctrl+Alt+F2 display Q, Ctrl+Alt+F3 display R, Ctrl+Alt+F4 display S, Ctrl+Alt+F5 display ;7~ ! I can not figure out why. Here is my xorg.conf

I had this problem once with XFree86 (ages ago), turned out I set keyboard type to a wrong value, I see XkbModel is set to pc105 in your xorg.conf, is this correct?

I'm sorry I don't know what's wrong then , but I suggest you try playing with the settings, perhaps a certain combo works, or hopefully someone else can help you with this.

Try to remove the xkbrules xfree86 line.

This helped me to use @ and ~ again.
Probably its a deprecated option which blocks something of the new protocols.

Is there no way to fix this? This is _very_ annoying because it means that I have to end my X session to get at tasks that are being performed on other ttys. There is no way I would rely on the stability of xorg for these kind of things. Is it anything to do with xmodmap? Dump of mine:

excellent, thanks for that, I also had uk instead of gb, the thing which through me was that the keymap uk actually worked and my ", @, ~ and | were all in the right place instead of their switched around US positions. I don't really understand how this worked and the Ctrl-Alt-F# didn't. also, the windows buttons were no longer mapped to Super[LR]. Even when I tested this with xev and used xmodmap to remap them to these like in the US keymap, the key combinations still didn't work, but all is well now.

I still have no clue as to why the keys themselves were mapped but the key combinations of these same keys failed to work. I would have thought that if the keymap didn't exist that it would have not worked or used the default us keyboard instead. Weird how it used gb but not everything worked.

If anybody knows more on this strange behaviour I'd be glad to hear an explanation!
