Sound appears to still be working, so I'm not sure how critical this is. Just rebooted with 2.6.15 and I'm seeing lots of this-

Code:
Bad page state at free_hot_cold_page (in process 'artsd', page c13e25e0)
flags:0x80000414 mapping:00000000 mapcount:0 count:0
Backtrace:
 [<c013cf60>] bad_page+0x80/0xc0
 [<c013d7b3>] free_hot_cold_page+0x53/0x140
 [<c01484d9>] zap_pte_range+0x169/0x250
 [<c0148675>] unmap_page_range+0xb5/0x140
 [<c01487ef>] unmap_vmas+0xef/0x1f0
 [<c014ce65>] unmap_region+0x95/0x130
 [<c014d1e3>] do_munmap+0x113/0x180
 [<c014d294>] sys_munmap+0x44/0x70

Trying to fix it up, but a reboot is needed

Seems I'm not the only one

http://lkml.org/lkml/2005/11/18/216

This is for 2.6.15-rc1-mm2 from back in November last year.

I'm using the alsa-driver ebuild for sound (v. 1.0.10-r1), don't know if that has anything to do with it. I might try the alsa drivers in the kernel if anyone knows if it might help. I see there's an alsa-driver 1.0.11_rc2 ebuild which is masked, I wonder if that would help.

EDIT: OK, unmasked the alsa 1.0.11-rc2 stuff using /etc/portage/package.unmask, the alsa lib, utils, headers and driver ebuilds all updated to the new version and the error messages I'm getting have stopped.

unmasking alsa-drivers / headers fixed that for me as well.
