Great! And localizations are included too! :D
I really like what the openoffice-bin maintainers do.

I'll just have to get the installer plus several localizations manually, and install them manually for some my friends and family which are still bound to the .EXE-style installation format. Busy days in the Win**** computing environment, and right before christmas...

But the Portage shines here! (2.0.1 already merged on my Gentoo without problems)
Keep up the good work!

Respect.

ARGH!
I just compiled OOo 2.0-source on my father's PC (667 MHz, 196MB RAM) so he can use his OOo in german just a week ago and now they release a bin with localizations! (Or did I read the post before mine wrong?)
Well, they do a good job >_<

Yeah, just set the LINGUAS variable in make.conf, unmask app-office/openoffice-bin in package.keywords and off you go!

The latter is needed if you want the upgrades delivered as soon as they are available, because the newest openoffice-bin ebuilds contain KEYWORDS="~x86 ~amd64". OTOH openoffice-bin-2.0.0 has KEYWORDS="x86 ~amd64", so it all depends on your needs, experience and willingness to experiment. :)

Yeah I know but I waited very long for the slow PC to finish compiling and now there's a german version without compiling. This is quite annoying.

Just installed the bin... I love how fast the OO stuff becomes stable in portage.

Speaking of stability, I hope this weeds out the crashes I was having with OO-2.0

The source ebuild is in portage too! I like building it from source so I can have the Gentoo logo on the splash-screen. :)

Well: openoffice-2.0.1 does not seems to build here with GCC-4.0.2 and sun-jdk-1.5.0.06.
Are going to try some magic and see, but....

If you compile from source you should get a gentoo-splashscreen when you start OOo.

But he could be wrong, I think I read somewhere that 1.5 would not be supported until 2.0.2.

It breaks on some c-compilation and not on anything java here, it looked like problems with some kernel-headers (and/or stdlib) or sth like this. but i don't investigate the problem further:

Same problem here. You're not alone :D

Has anyone resolved this problem so far?

Had the same problem emerging 2.0.1 with this flags:

Code:
+curl +eds -gnome -gtk +java +kde +ldap +mozilla +xml2 +zlib

Looks like this:

http://lists.ximian.com/pipermail/openoffice/2005-December/001391.html

and

http://lists.ximian.com/pipermail/openoffice/2005-December/001392.html

If I understand correctly it should work when gtk-support is enabled, I will test this and will try to compile it overnight with
this flags:

Code:
+curl +eds -gnome +gtk +java +kde +ldap +mozilla +xml2 +zlib

Maybe it helps

I'll wait for 2.0.2 or possibly even 2.1
2.0.0 is working just fine for me, don't have an urge to recompile the thing again.

As I suspected, with gtk-Support enabled Compilation runs without errors and Openoffice 2.0.1 runs fine.
Seems to be a bug in the ebuild though.

My problem was because of axxo-overlay (gentoo-java-experimental), making slight changes to the ebuild got it go, it is now past the critical point:)

Yes with gtk support enabled. Openoffice Compiled OK. But it looks more like MS Office, than OOo. :(
