Having done an

Code:

emerge -uD world

new Nvidia drivers have been installed... now x wont start... a simple problem to fix I am sure, but can someone give me a pointer?

Perhaps you forgot to change the modules.autoload line from NVdriver to nvidia? The module's name changed recently.
