have warcraft3 and Sof2 running better on linux than on windows with this (and quake3, but that was running faster originaly), and I'm gonna test halflife in a few sec :)

use desktop=<resolution> and doublebuffering=y, says it should work good with opengl games, works GREAT with some DX games aswell.

I ran sof2 in 800x600, now I can run it in 1280x1024 at 50fps (and in 800x600 it something dropped dramaticly, doesen't now :) ).

i never played around with wine(X).. so.. my questions is... is there a config file for each app, or only one general ?!?

I'm in windows right now (shrug, just noticed one of my fat32 drives that I share with windows, use it to install games on from windows (dumb installshield) had 98% fragmentation, so.. ;) ), but I'll put it up next time I'm on the board :)

there is a global config, but you can make custom settings for each app if you like :)

You are bound to post your config neuron.

thought I had posted the blackscreen workaround.

create this key:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Blizzard Entertainment\Warcraft III\Misc

make dword value seenintromovie, and set it to 1 and it'll start ;)

My entire config file, as requested a cupple of times on irc, in pm's, and in threads, now I got around to posting it :p, sorry it took some time people ;)

and though I have windows installed, wine is installed without access to that directory and is running in standalone mode :)

Yay! I can get the blank desktop in WC3, but I don't know how to edit the registry to add that dword.

I tried regedit (copied it over from windows isntall) although that did not run. I am missing a few dlls, AUTHZ.dll and ADVAPI32.dll, which I couldn't find in my windows installation.

Can i edit the registry some other way?

Thanks!

So yea, try the CVS for sure.

mb, go to gamecopyworld.com and get a crack, the WineX cvs doesen't have the code to work with the kind of copy protection W3 has, so you need a crack, or it'll think your running without the cd.

cracks are completly legal aslong as you own the game, some game developers have even released cracks for own games due to cd copy protection failing on too many cdrom's :)

aslong as you own the product you can modify it in ANY way you like aslong as you don't resell it / give it to anyone modified.

compile it, it is WineX :), they just don't change version numbers and such in the builds.
