|
|
Ever few hours, not every hour, I get an email to root:
Subject: cron: test -x /usr/sbin/run-crons && /usr/sbin/run-crons
Date: Mon, June 24, 2002 20:00
To: root
rm: cannot unlink `/var/spool/cron/lastrun/cron.hourly': No such file or directory
Whats the problem? |

There is a man page for the test command, check that out.
Quote: | test -x /usr/sbin/run-crons && /usr/sbin/run-crons |
That line come from the /etc/crontab file, check that out.
I think your /etc/cron.hourly folder has gotten deleted some how. Try recreating it with the same permissions as the /etc/cron.daily folder. Mine is empty.

I get this too. It's not that /etc/cron.hourly is missing.
It's /var/spool/cron/lastrun/cron.hourly that's missing. Could be the file isn't being created and cron isn't bothering to check if it exists before attempting to delete it, or maybe it's being deleted twice. |
