I'm getting this message when I try to start squid.
Code: |
yang ~ # /etc/init.d/squid start
* Re-caching dependency info (mtimes differ)...
* Initializing cache directory: /var/cache/squid
/etc/init.d/squid: line 35: cd: /var/cache/squid: No such file or directory
/etc/init.d/squid: line 32: 21551 Aborted /usr/sbin/squid -z -F 2>/dev/null
* Error initializing: /var/cache/squid
yang ~ #
|
My machine is x86 architecture and I'm using squid-2.5.11.
I've never had this message before. Shouldn't it create the directory automatically?

yes just create the directory, it must be writable by the user squid runs as. |

Ah ha! The directory already existed actually, so it wasn't because of that.
It was because I had not set the visible_hostname in squid.conf.
It's starting now with no problems.
Thanks for your help! |
