Can't Build in Anjuta

Hey, I've got a weird problem with anjuta and a pre-written project.
I know the code works, and i can compile specific files, but I can't build anything.

build, build all, clean, clean all are all failing with the error:

no targets specified and no makefile found...
***

anyhoo, I'm guessing I'm missing something really simply..any heads up would be awesome...

after doing auto-generate, configure (all work) build all gives me the error "No rule to make target 'all' "
not quite sure on this one either ;(
