Last I checked, genetic was considered to be useless outside of finding good tunable values or for finding values for an extremely odd workload, which means, most patchsets should NOT include genetic for desktop usage, unless the creator has an extremely odd workload. |
correct, genetic is useless piece of code causing more overhead than any (placebo-) gain.
regarding vesafb-tng: i would've done it, but i wanted to push it out soon enough to be the first patchset on ck4 |
Just a friendly tip, but, rushed releases tend to end up with alot of little problems. I like to take my time and test things, even if the release isn't fast. _________________ System: predatorbox

Ditto. And it pays off. ArchCK4, which also has staircase and CK4 is very stable right now.
JaQoB: Yes, this release includes Con's Staircase scheduler. Take a look at the benchmarks here, it rips through O in nearly every benchmark.

Con recommends CFQ for desktop users, I can vouch that CFQ is a very nice I/O scheduler, so, that'd be my recommendation as well. In fact, since this patchset includes the full ck4, CFQ is the default. _________________ System: predatorbox

ok, i will work out the first __REAL__ release really soon (i hope )
EDIT:
Without making any hopes, but it should be really soon, and with a hidden performance surprise...
Also, looks like it might make it to the "stable" - status, we will see _________________ Retired gentoo user |

Is the hidden performance suprise going to be -ck4 and the new staircase 13.0? _________________ My soul is my antenna, I am the instrument + the guitar is my amplifier.

No, that would be neither hidden nor surprise, and also not new
a small modification i made to the scheduler to make it a little.....snappier
EDIT: compiletesting right now, looking good .... _________________ Retired gentoo user |

Tiger683,
You put that vga=03xx for 1280x1024.
What would I put for that param if I had 1024x768@60? _________________ IRC!: #zen-sources on irc.rizon.net

I cannot get to compile it. Linking somehow fails :
Code: |
LD init/built-in.o
LD .tmp_vmlinux1

drivers/built-in.o:(.data+0x48d0): référence indéfinie vers « cfb_copyarea »
drivers/built-in.o:(.data+0x48d4): référence indéfinie vers « cfb_imageblit »
