I've got the same problem, using kernel 2.6.14.

Does anyone have a solution for this problem, otherwise I'll have to downgrade :-)

The acx100 driver gentoo uses is historic anyway. Here is an ebuild that works with 2.6.14:

The ebuild worked for me. I encourage you to post it to bugzilla.

Save it as an ebuild and build it as a digest?

You guys (and gals) keep me going... ;-)

https://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=105738

Usage: See http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/handbook/handbook-x86.xml?part=3&chap=5#doc_chap2
Basically you do:

Code:

cd /usr/local/portage
# EDIT: NOT cd /usr/local
mkdir -p net-wireless/acx100
cd net-wireless/acx100
wget http://bugs.gentoo.org/attachment.cgi?id=73314 -O acx100-0.3.18.ebuild
ebuild acx100-0.3.18.ebuild digest

and edit your /etc/make.conf acccording to the handbook link above. Then an emerge -av acx100 should show the new version.

If that sounds too complicated, just wait a bit until it is in the regular portage tree (check the bugzilla link above for progress (but pls don't spam the developers with "me too"-messages ;-))).

Yeah, my bad, see above - caveat emptor and all, i type these things from memory :).

One more thing, if you don't have /usr/local/portage yet, you have to create it (mkdir /usr/local/portage).

BTW, you should read the provided link to understand the repercussions of having a local portage tree. You shouldn't trust some random forum guy ;-).

Just got this far myself (much thanks to TRauMa :D ). Try acx instead of acx_pci (and yeah, I'm using pci - not pcmcia).

You somehow have to get the ebuild and distfiles to the PC you try to install on, either via usb-stick or something else.

You'll need:
    The ebuild file itself
The sources mentioned in the ebuild file (the driver, the firmware)

The sources go to /usr/portage/didstfiles/, then you should be able to follow the instructions above.

I don't know if kernel sources are on the install CD, if not, you'll need them, too.

BTW, I noticed that some ppl have problems with the firmware file names, if that is the case, rm /usr/portage/distfiles/fw.tar.bz2 and download fresh, the file changes contents on the server from time to time but not name.
