BlackBerry and IMAPS

Hi,
I have 2 BlackBerry Devices which check the IMAPS Server for new emails.
One accout works perfectly. The other BlackBerry device checks for new emails every 15 minutes, but it finds no new mails (and there are).
The BlackBerry devices have their one public IP.

From the dovecot logs, I see that the login was successfull but it seams that the imaps server reported no new email to the client which checked for new emails.

Does anybody know what could it be?

What means from the point of view of the server & client a read/unread mail?

You will have to contact your Blackberry Server administrator and/or Blackberry support.

ok, but what means read/unread e-mail ? How are they recognized? Is this from the server point of view or from the client, or both?

The blackberry server (typically resides on the same server as the MS Exchange) is the primary IMAP client.

IMAP uses the subfolders of the .maildir. New ones go in new/ and get moved to /cur when read.

hi,
I've checked it and my IMAP server uses the following file structure:

- All the mails are in /home/user/mail in format of mbox (one file for all emails or one file for one folder)
- there is also a /home/user/maill/.imap folder
- For every folder in /home/user/mail there is also a folder with the same name in /home/user/.imap/
ex: there is /home/user/mail/Sent and /home/user/mail/.imap/Sent which contains: .customflags .imap.index .imap.index.data .imap.index.log .imap.index.tree
These files seam to be binary files.

I've tested with some new/old emails and it seams no email is moved based on its status (unread/read). Maybe this info is held in the files from /home/user/mail/.imap/folder_name

Anyway, it is not so clear. Maybe I must read the imap protocol - RFC 3501

What is your opinion?

Okay. I see. My IMAP server moves stuff around but also uses index files. Your one must be using those to tell the new email from the rest, without actually moving any. Quick check of the modified dates on the files should prove this.
