Hi,
I tried to emerge dvdrip today, but the install failed because netpbm (9.12-r4) didn't compile.
There are tons of errors, such as:
make[2]: c: Command not found
/bin/sh: o: command not found
The corresponding ebuild doesn't look any different from prior versions.
Any Ideas ?

Thanks,
greeneye

I'm also having a problem compiling netpbm 9.12-r4 its a dependency of xscreensaver...

Always the same error and would appreciate a way of fixing this?

I did an emerge -u system recently and it solved my problems regarding the netpbm compilation. Of course, your mileage may vary...

I tried emerge -u system and that didn't work. I also tried to search for "xscreensaver", "netpbm", and both at the same time, but didn't notice anything that was closer to my problem than this string.

This is the error that I receive when 'emerge xscreensaver'.

make[1]: *** No rule to make target `libpbm.', needed by `atktopbm'. Stop.
make[1]: Leaving directory `/var/tmp/portage/netpbm-9.12-r4/work/netpbm-9.12/pbm'
make: *** [pbm] Error 2

!!! ERROR: media-libs/netpbm-9.12-r4 failed.
!!! Function src_compile, Line 26, Exitcode 2
!!! Make failed

Help would be much appreciated.

I wasn't able to emerge netpbm-9.12-r4 but I was able to ebuild netpbm-10.11.5-r2. Sorry for waisting anyone's time. I guess something wasn't updated to look for the newer version, unless there is a bug in it I am soon to findout about once it finishes it's compile.

I was having a a problem with the netpbm-9.12 ebuild as well... One of 3 packages that stopped my emerge -eu world ... emerge -eu system didn't help either, but I tried the netpbm-10.x ebuild (as a work-around) and that worked, but I had to switch to emerge -eU world.
