[SOLVED]No sound at Medion MD42073(saa7134) TV-tuner

My TV-tuner card(Medion MD42073) works quite allright using the saa7134 driver, the image is good enough but... there's no sound.
Not when I watch TV, and not when I record something using e.g. MythTV. There is a cable between the line out of the TV-tuner card and the line-in from my sound-card but that doesn't help me much.

I tried

Code: Select all

modprobe saa7134 oss=1
Which creates a /dev/sound/mixer1 device, but I can't do anything with it. dmesg shows:

Code: Select all

saa7130/34: v4l2 driver version 0.2.14 loaded
ACPI: PCI Interrupt 0000:02:0c.0[A] -> GSI 20 (level, low) -> IRQ 21

I tried to change volumes using umix:

Code: Select all

daedalus ~ # umix --dev=/dev/sound/mixer1
umix: Failed initializing mixer devices
Any clues what might be causing this, what I could try to get my sound to work? What is the oss=1 flag for anyway, doesn't the driver support ALSA(which I use...)?

Do you mean the internal cable from your card to the motherboard connection?

Nope, I don't have use my onboard soundcard and my TV-tuner doesn't have an internal connector.

On the backside of my TV-tuner card there are 2 3,5mm jacks: Audio In and Audio Out. I've plugged a short cable in the 'Audio Out' jack and plugged the other end in the 'Line In' 3,5mm jack on my soundcard(Creative Soundblaster Audigy 2 ZS). That's all that should be required, and it does work in Windows...

Right, please kick me in my nuts for being so stupid. I searched this forum, found the oss=1 hint somewhere, used it, and thought that because I can't use an OSS mixer on /dev/sound/mixer1 it wouldn't work, but I just tried and there is sound in MythTV now, so I was whining for nothing.

Never mind :P
