I have some trouble with The whole Gnome desktop.
For some reason, after a trip to enlightenment and back, something that has something to do with the settings in Gnome is screwed.
I get notices when I try to access settings and other stuff, and the GUI itself is crapped.
It complains about CORBA-something.
I tried updating it to the latest version, but it didn't go away.
I tried backing up (and removing the old) the config files for gnome (in my home folder) but that didn't work.
So I was thinking I might remove the whole damn thing, clear out the settings and then reinstall the whole gnome package.
Then it comes to my mind, does emerge have backwards dependency support?
Like, sure it knows that if I want to install foo, foo needs bar and baz, so it installs them too, but if I remove foo, will bar and baz go away too?
And can it detect if bar and baz is needed by any other program, and how does it react on that?

Say i want to remove all of gnome (to use only KDE or just a command line interface), does emerge remove everything that's in the base system (everything except 3rd party apps) + gtk?
I know I won't be able to run these 3rd party apps without gtk, though.

If I then do an emerge gnome, will it install the latest version and will everything work as it should?

Or do you have any other suggestions?

(Xsession)
Hmm, depclean wants to remove a few packages I want to keep, like a game (jumpnbump) and the xine-ui, and some other things.
How do I prevent this?
It said i could list them in the worldfile, but I can't find the worldfile... :?:
