Actually there is a reason for each of them ;) Basically all three of them are not finished / experimental stuff, to add to that:

*) access-support breaks the build atm
*) Mono scripting stuff does not work out of the box
*) Cairo-stuff has a few nasty bugs and as it replaces the native drawing code, this is a no-go atm

But be sure that all of them will be coming sometime, but first we have to iron out all the basic stuff ;)

I see. Thought that much. What about the --with-openclipart? What are its issues? I actually installed openclipart just now and am very impressed with the quality and quantity of stuff they managed to collect over the years :)

drakkan,

It's a free space problem. The ebuild reckons you'll need 4-6GB free temporary space for building (by default on /var/tmp/portage), the exact same error nailed me as well. Unfortunately in my case the ebuild completed regardless, in your case it kept going for a while until it gave up :?

Suka, is there any way to force the ebuild to fail if any subprocesses choke on "No space left on device"? That ebuild message scrolls past so fast that silly people (like me  ) don't even bother to read it, and then wonder why it fails or even - in my case - installs OK with some vital components missing, corrupting the whole thing (and causing segfaults, crashes, missing libraries etc.)

Bummer that my /var is only 4GB in size (I designed it 1.5 years ago with ooo-1.1 in mind), and no other partitions on mine have nearly as much free space  Oh well, I guess it's clean up time again.

I have only two partitions swap and /

Code:

 df -h
Filesystem         Dimens. Usati Disp. Uso% Montato su
/dev/sda2              55G   40G   16G  72% /
udev                  506M  260K  506M   1% /dev
cachedir               55G   40G   16G  72% /lib/splash/cache
shm                   506M     0  506M   0% /dev/shm

so I think space problem isn't my case :(

Strange, coz the error I got seems (erased my logfile before I could check) identical to yours and mine was definitely a space issue...

Just re-emerge and log everything to file, then trace the source of the error from there.

I think openoffice has expose issues....
If I have the style window (or any window for that matter) hovering above my document, and scroll the document, I get a white band where text should be. I checked that I have backingstore enabled (xorg.conf), and tested some other apps.
Gedit: no problems
Adobe reader: No problems
It's annoying the hell out of me :x
USE flasgs OOO:
app-office/openoffice-2.0.0 +curl +eds -gnome +gtk +java -kde +ldap +mozilla -nas +xml2 +zlib
CFLAGS:
-O2 -mcpu=athlon-xp -march=athlon-xp -ffast-math

Works fine otherwise.... :?

Any thoughts?

Is it global problem?

Just Like to know before I submit a bug ;)

You guys just don't want to know what I did to this computer while emerging that thing...;) It is a P42.8 safely clocked to 3.0 using gcc-4.0.2 if you wanted to know....:-P

Wtf, that should be way faster. Think like 4 hours 8O

I suspect the CPU got heated up too much, thus it was constantly throttled. Well, one should know how to oc...

Well, I know how to overclock, but if you had read the thing I pointed out with bold text right now you will notice that had nothing to do with it.... As said, I did other funny things to my computer at the same time I think stole a lot of CPU time.
.....and if my CPU was oh then I would have much bigger problems with stability than I have becouse this CPU makes mistakes as soon it got just a little too warm (know from the testing I did with gimps before getting a good cooler)....

Has anybody figured out what is causing the weird issue with the path names?

I still get error messages everytime I want to save a new file, but its just an error message, because the file saves fine. I get an error message when I try to open templates too. The error indicates that the files aren't there, but as soon as you click ok it lists the templates and they work fine.

I guess its just a minor bug, but its still a pain to get those error messages all the time. I haven't tried removing everything and starting over, but if I emerge -C openoffice-bin and delete all the open office stuff from my home directory will it re-emerge and make all new default settings? I think the problem is that it was still picking up config info from a previous version I had installed.

After the last sync portage ask me to install unixODBC and some other packages as openoffice dependencies and then openoffice compiled fine

thanks

I can't belive the difference between the -bin and the source 8O... the compiled has *real* integration with the desktop dialogs/widgets... Impressive! Is this a gentoo only thing? I mean a patch of sorts or just that the -bin package has been compiled with compatibility in mind?
It was totally worth the 6 hrs compile time!! wohoo!! :P

Regards

Can some mod edit one of the above messages so it plays nicely with the layout again?

Let me add another compile time :

Code:
* app-office/openoffice

     Sun Oct 30 17:56:39 2005 >>> app-office/openoffice-2.0.0
merge time: 5 hours, 20 minutes and 19 seconds.

Compiled today on my laptop. Pentium-M 2.13 2 Gig Ram.
I did some other compile work in parallel. Pretty impressive those new mobile processors.

I probably hold the record for the longest OOo2 compile. Beat that! :P

I thought it would took longer :)

I use modular X so I suppose openoffice ebuild doesn't support modular X deps yet...

No it doesn't. But even if it did, it would fail later on, as there is still some crucial package (from an OOo-view) missing in X.org / modular

No it doesn't. But even if it did, it would fail later on, as there is still some crucial package (from an OOo-view) missing in X.org / modular

So it can't be installed on a system with modular X at the moment ?

You can use openoffice-bin, but you can't build the source-version atm. Thought this should be corrected before the final release of x.org 7.0, it is on the blocker bug list.

Doubtfull, the openoffice source version fails on imake, xorg wants to go away from imake...

That grep line was the last line. These are my linguas and options:
Code:
 LINGUAS="be nl_be nl en"
[ebuild  N    ] app-office/openoffice-2.0.0  +curl +eds +gnome +gtk +java -kde +ldap +mozilla +nas +xml2 +zlib 0 kB

Is there a specific problem or should I emerge sync (it was a week ago) and use LINGUAS="nl" and try again?

It compiled this time. I got most of the same error however, yet this time it continued and it didn't seem to matter. Three hooray's for the biggest office suite ever ;-P!!!

I thought it would took longer :)

Holy moly! A PII400Mhz with Xorg, gnome and openoffice2 !! Now that's an elite machine!
I got a 300mhz pc connected on my gentoo machine as a thin client through ltsp, but after seeing this, I might consider installing gentoo on it.

Until then, it's official. You hold the record now.
