We have finished our work on the subforums, but before we finally implement them, we need to test them thoroughly. Please take a look at our test server.
host: fgo.iansview.com
login for the webserver: subforums/test
login for your account: same as last week when the snapshot was made

Please take a look around, read some threads, post something, etc. Do everything you usually do and look if anything strange happens. If you think you may have found something, let us know (e.g. by posting here) - screenshots or error messages are always welcome.

Thanks in advance.

Good catch, we forgot to set the proper permissions after creating it. Thanks!

fgo.iansview.com is protected by a password (mainly to protect people to stumble upon it without knowing that this is a test forum), you need to log in as user subforums with the password test when entering the page. Once you've done that you can either browse the forums as guest or log in as the forums user you have here (which would be Omega21 and your password for forums.gentoo.org).

Cokehabit's a Brit, so he probably refers to soccer world cup. I'm Italian, so the only world cup people know of is soccer as well. ;-)

So'm I, but I still neither know nor care about world cups. Besides, why do Americans think that football is a game played with the hands? Answers on a postcard...

Hi guys. Looks okay, but SPARC and MacOSX are definitely not subforums of PPC. You probably could make a Gentoo-Alt forum for MacOSX and BSD if they're interested. For PPC, perhaps a PPC64 subforum (I know they were interested in getting their own forum).

Don't worry, someone has only tested to make an existing forum a subforum.

Looks really good however the subforums should look different to the normal forums. I would suggest the 'little piece of paper that is orange when you have new posts' be indented so as to help differentiate the subforum as being part of the parent forum.

Don't know if it is a Bug or just a disabled Option...

I don't see any avatars ;-) Are they disabled?

Neither the avatar gallery nor the custom user avatars on f.g.o are installed on the test server. Uploading avatars is broken, we know.

hi...
when entering a suborum, the tree disapears and you only see the path where you are...
e.g.:
Code:

 Gentoo Forums Foren-Übersicht        German
                                                                     Dies und das
                                                                     Installation
                                                                     Desktop und X
                                                                     Netzwerk & Sicherheit
                                                                     Multimedia
                                                                     Sauerkraut und Eisbein

then entering "Dies und das"
Code:

Gentoo Forums Foren-Übersicht        German  Dies und das

I know, it's not a bug but i would prefer to see the tree even in the subforum for a quick jump to another one.
perhaps other people think the same, perhaps i'm alone with that opinion. don't know...
:P

edit:
oh, btw... is it possible to show the "new posts" icon with the subforums in the tree mentioned above?

Are there new ranks in the forum?
For example Guru <=> Emperor.

Why is that done and which is the sense? Or it is a nice error?

I saw, the Subforen will be arranged alphabetically (but not " Installation").
It is possible in the German Subforum to rename
"Dies und das" in " Quatsch und Tratsch" or so?

I think this topic is better at the list-end.

Ma
