It's a FAQ.

Didn't work. GCC emerged fine, as did portage, WINE still fails on the same error.

Using wine-2005-725 I have solved the printing problem by downloading libcups.so.2 and libcupsimage.so.2 in 32bit and installing them into my /usr/lib32 directory, and setting up symlinks for libcups.so and libcupsimage.so. Means I can now run access properly as it needs a printer installed.

Perhaps you used the wrong -p or --strip option?
The text leading up to this was:
--------------------------
|diff -X ignore -Nru clean/wine/dlls/d3d8/basetexture.c patch/wine/dlls/d3d8/basetexture.c
|--- clean/wine/dlls/d3d8/basetexture.c 2005-06-03 19:08:48.000000000 +0100

--------------------------
File to patch:

I run:
Code:

bzip2 -dc d3d9patch.2005-06-13.diff.bz2 | patch -p2

And it works i think:
Code:

patching file dlls/x11drv/opengl.c
patching file include/d3d9.h
patching file include/d3d9caps.h
patching file include/d3d9types.h
patching file include/wine/wined3d_gl.h

How, or perhaps, where from?

Ahhh... the latest ebuild (wine-09302005) fixed this, after running winecfg and selecting alsa as the audio driver. I finally have sound under wine!

Could you give me some advice. Thanks a lot.
[EDIT]
solved after I revised 20050930.ebuild according to stellvia's revised ebuild of page P7. The problem here is still using /usr/lib64, not /emul/linux/x86/usr/lib32.

blackwhite Could you please post your ebuild? I tried applying the two missing parts of the ebuild as pointed out by Stellvia but it still fails with the same x11drv message as the one above.

Hi guys,

I am experiencing the same exact error as blackwhite had with wine-20050930.
What stellvia refers to is an older wine revision.

Now, either blackwhite or someone else could please post step by step exactly what needs to be done to solve this issue with rel of wine-20050930?
This would be greatly appreciated and of great help.

thank you,
spiro

Hi codein,

as for your glut32 error, emerge glut again. This should solve this issue.

I have the same issue myself. I first experienced the same issue you have and solved by emerging glut again.
Now, using your string, ABI=x86 USE="amd64" LDFLAGS="-m32" emerge wine I get this error:
Code:
/usr/lib/gcc/x86_64-pc-linux-gnu/3.4.4/../../../../x86_64-pc-linux-gnu/bin/ld: skipping incompatible /usr/lib/libXext.a when searching for -lXext

So, couple of questions:
1) Is ABI=x86 USE="amd64" LDFLAGS="-m32" emerge wine ok or needs changes?
2) How to solve the above error?

I found [url=another thread]another thread[/url] and they are advicing to do:
Quote:
Use the --x-libraries=/usr/X11R6/lib configure option (or wherever fedora
keeps the 32bit libs).

And make sure that you have the 32bit libraries and devel headers installed.

How does it translate in gentoo? Anybody can tell me if this is proper and how to do so?

Also wine support reported me the following:
Quote:
Sounds like a library path problem. Try running configure with
--x-libraries=<path of your 32-bit X libraries here>

How to implement this?

thank you,
Spiro

Made the changes you said, still not compiling :(

Code:

Configure finished.  Do 'make depend && make' to compile Wine.

/usr/local/portage/app-emulation/wine/wine-20050930.ebuild: line 112: --sysconfdir=/etc/wine: No such file or directory

Hi mikearthur,

I do not know exactely what to advice. Only thing I can say is this: try to apply those changes to portage three and not to local portage. Perhaps this makes no sense, but I have no other ideas.

Anybody has a solution?

Just to say this, it may seem odd... I downloaded the latest ebuild from gentoo-portage ( gentoo-portage.com/app-emulation/wine ) and it works fine now, compiles and everything (( the 20050930 version )). However I can't use radio buttons . . .

The GUI issue, that I had, was an XORG error.

Sorry, haven't been about the forums to post this up, but basically I did this:

emergy sync ; emerge -e x11 ; echo "app-emulation/wine ~amd64" >> /etc/portage/package.keywords ; emerge -e wine emul-linux-x86-xlibs ; emerge -e system ; emerge -e system ; emerge -e world ; emerge -e world

I have a slackbox running the latest wine (CVS) so I know its safe. As for the emul-linux-x86-xlibs, it has been changed slightly so I saw no risk. The issue with Xorg fixed itself after the latest install. I've noticed a performance increase too... heh. Mind you, it took something around 16 hours to complete...
