A pentium mmx version of 2005.1 jackass wasn't made since so few people had used the 2005.0 pentium-mmx one.

http://bobp.homelinux.org/

edit:
It's actually got tarballs for it rather than a livecd. You can probably use any livecd plus the tarball.

And it's got 2005.1 pentium-mmx tarballs.

check the "downloads" link not the "mirrors" for the tarballs.

You don't have to donate. Scroll down to the tarballs.

Try scrolling down and reading the entire page.

edit:
Since you can't be bothered to read it, the page tells you that the tarballs for legacy processors aren't available. And I assume it asks for donations simply because even though the tarballs for mmx are used by almost no one it still takes just as long to build as the others (the ones that lots of people use).

the Jackass! Support Thread would be a good place to ask this sort of question. if youi posted your question there, then the people who are responsible for Jackass! would be aware of your question. i, for example, would have seen your post a week ago if you had posted it there. if you ask for support by starting your own threads, you are guaranteed not to get a response from me, because i do not read other threads in the forum -- i am so busy that i only read the threads that i am required to maintain, and i found this thread purely by accident.

@sly, thanks for your posts. every one of your answers has been right on target. 8)

I don't believe there is one for x86, on the only public mirror it starts as low as p3.

I followed the Jackass! method with a 2005.1 stage3 tarball.

and built a new 2005.1 x86 tarball with gcc 3.4.4,nptl, oct 2. portage snapshot, and some other things.

It's basically the exact same thing as Jackass! I barely changed the make.conf, I removed some unneccessary lines as seen in BobP's guide

Here's the link to the tarball, it's built following bobp's guide, but it's not an official jackass tarball - Because I made it - however it should work for you just like a prebuilt one from bobp/jackass, and it includes the same thing as BobP's guide.

Code:

wget http://www.bfgraphics.net/stage3-x86-2005.1-gcc344-nptl.tar.bz2

Hope this will come in use for you ;)

I'm using my built system from Bob P's guide right now - works great, compiles excellent with gcc 3.4.4, and the entire toolchain has been rebuilt with gcc 3.4.4, and the entire system has been rebuilt with gcc 3.4.4 accordingly.

It only includes gcc 3.4.4, 3.3.5 has been pruned, going along with Bob P's guide again.

i'm a little confused by this. which CHOST did you build for? 386? 486? 586?

i wouldn't recommend using the Stage 1/3 method as-is to build for x86, if when you say x86 you mean something ridiculous like a 386 or a 486. some of the optimizations used in the Stage 1/3 Guides would be pretty harsh on those processors. you might be better off changing some of the CFLAGS to lighten the load a bit.

In fact, it's not possible to build with NPTL for i386. NPTL hasn't been ported to 386 and likely never will be.

that's way too big. there's some stuff in that tarball that doesn't belong there. even with a portage snapshot included, it shouldn't be over 116MB.

thanks. i was confused about which chost he had built for, not which processor you're using. i had noticed that you had posted that in your original message. ;)

its

march-i686
1586-pc-linux-gnu

it's over 116 mb because I have boost emerged, and boost is about 30 mb.

I pre-merged it because I was going to try c++ portage - And i did it before making the tarball.

it is compiled with nptl, hence "i586-pc-linux-gnu" "march=i686"

A pentium-mmx shouldn't be able to work with "-march=i686" as pentium-mmx is only a 586. How the hell did you get it to work?
