when i try to partition the hard drive with fdisk or cfdisk, it says its read only, i can't write to it, how can i fix this? _________________ ~executioner

My initial guess is you're passing the device name of your cdrom rather than your hard drive. fdisk -l might help here. Michael _________________ Behold, The power of SEARCH!
