When I try to start vsftpd I get the message: "vsftpd: does not run standalone, must be started from inetd"

I tried to write an rc script for starting the service, but I still get the same message.

Anyone who knows the answer to this one?

Thnx

You have to make sure you have
Code:
listen=YES

in your vsftpd.conf

thanks for the reply

I couldn't run vsftpd standalone, it gave me "invalid argument" on listen=YES

I had to adjust xinetd.conf to allow the internal network to access the server. Now it works fine.

Thats good you got it working, the "invalid argument" sounds liek your using an old version of vsftpd. The lastest stable version is now 1.1.3 which has many more features on the version before.
