Hi All,

I used to have a lovely 17" illayma monitor on my SS20, connected to a CGsix. I got rid of the monitor ( 10months ago, to save space) and used to login via ssh.

I've recently had to reboot the SS20 and had problems booting it until I connected a serial cable so I could get into openboot and boot the disk from there, it lost the default of disk and was trying a netboot.

Anyway, I have been looking at the documentation for changing the output-device in openboot so that I could connect it to my Dell E171FP 17" tft monitor. I have tried different resolutions but still the TFT sits there after a reboot with tht ornage light on and I dont get any display on the monitor. I am using the same 13W3 to 15pin VGA connector I always have.

Does anyone know a resolution that the SS20, CGSix, and Dell FP will be happy with?

Thanks
GregW

I've not had any more joy with this, so I went to work where I have an Ultra30 and have the same dell TFT on my windoze box. The U30 I'm usign a 17" multisync monitor and with the 13w3 connector I get an unsupported resolution so I used the serial cable to change the boot res on the creator card to 1024x768x60 reset the box and the display comes up on the CRT no problems. the old screen res was something like 1196xXXX

If I swap the crt fot the tft I dont get a display at all and the TFT says it is in sleep mode. According to the Dell website 1024x768x60 IS a supported resolution for this TFT but it still doesn't wok so I'm still stuck. :(

Anyone got any ideas?

Thanks

Hi Toady,

Thanks for the info.

I've tried your suggestion, shutdown and restarted but sadly I cant get it to work with the TFT :( , the multisync monitor is quite happoy at 1280x1024@60Hz but the TFT just wont go. Looks like I am out of options. Ah, well at least I can use the serial console to get into openboot to set the boot device and I can still ssh into the box on the LAN so all is not lost!

Thanks again for your suggestion,
GregW
