In regular install, after untar stage3, the latest portage tree is downloaded and untar. This portage tree update is not in the Jackass instruction. Should I just stick to the instruction or I can takethe latest portage tree?
I notice Jackass default bring r6 where as the lastest bring r9.

You can update it. Personally I just emerge sync'ed it. If you're really new, next time stay away from the advanced installs, though! |
