I don't know if this is the right place to post this. I hope it is. :P

I have:
1 40 GIG hard drive (set as master) running Gentoo Linux
(3 partitions [boot,swap,root])
1 60 GIG hard drive on the same IDE Channel (set as slave) running Windows XP
(3 FAT32 Partitions)
I have GRUB installed on my Gentoo system

What I Want:
I want to be able to have a dual boot in GRUB.

What I Have Done:
in grub.conf, this is what I have for my Windows XP...
title=Windows XP
root (hd1,0)
chainloader (hd1,0)+1

When I try to boot into that from GRUB, the computer start beeping like crazy, and it woun't boot. It just tells me the file system format along with some error and then tells me to press any key to continue.
once i press any key, goes back to GRUB menu.

what am I doing wrong? What else should I be doing?
I ran #cfdisk /dev/hdb to see what the partitions where.. and I had..
hdb1
hdb5
hdb6
1 being the boot drive (my main xp partition)

Do I not have my GRUB setup right? isn't hdb1=hd1,0?

Any help would be appriciated. Thanks in advance.

Try this instead.

Code:
title=Windows XP
map (hd0) (hd1)
map (hd1) (hd0)
root (hd1,0)
rootnoverify (hd1,0)
makeactive
chainloader +1

as directed in this thread.
