Code:
[alert] apache: Could not determine the server's fully qualified domain name using 127.0.0.1 for ServerName
I tried changing the servername variable in the .conf but apache still doen't start. have any ideas??

It might have something to do with naming your machine in /etc/hosts (i.e. 127.0.1.1 localhost server.name), but I don't remember for sure.

Yes. I believe that this is a problem with your /etc/hosts file.

You should have something like this:

Code:

127.0.0.1   yourserver.yourdomain yourserver localhost

Hi,

I had the same problem (apache claiming that no servername found).
After configuring the machine name, apache didn't start either.

But after having an entry like

IP-Addr FullHostName HostName

in my /etc/hosts apache started without problems.

Thanks a lot!!!
