|
|
ok iv done alot of searching and almost all of the documentation i have found about samba deals mostly with setting up samba as a server...not using it as a client
i want to be able to access my university-wide network resources, i.e. my roommate's shared printer, professor's shared files, etc. if someone can tell me how to configure smb.conf to do this, and how to access things and put in my password etc. id be psyched. here is any pertinent info i thought might be helpful:
campus domain: deacnet
IP addys: 152.17.*.*
username: lyncjp0
password: *****
DNS: Bcast:152.17.255.255
thanks in advance...iv asked this question on a few other forums before (before i was enlightened by gentoo and used other distros) and had little luck getting any help...i know you guys wont let me down though!
[EDIT]: Also is there some sort of 'network neighborhood' type program i can get? when i used lindows it automatically figured out my network and everything and had a network browser...the one thing about lindows i really loved |

if you use nautilus you should just be able to go to smb:// and find all the systems there. Probably the same thing with konquerer. |
