I acknowledge that portage is a great system, however the turnaround on new ebuild submissions is getting ridiculous. I submitted tora 1.3.9.2 on Feb 9, and it's still not in. While it might not be the most popular program on the block, it is a great program and gentoo users would benefit from the new additions.

I'm sure there are countless programs like this getting lost in the shuffle. Is it a problem of being understaffed to check out these ebuilds?

Well I've written ebuilds for at least 3 programs that are in now. Perhaps I should lobby for CVS access to take some of the burden.

What about a new branch with the new ebuilds? I'd add something like "proposed" or "alpha" to the keywords to make the new ebuilds available in portage as soon as possible. The idea is to make a committed ebuild available in portage without having a developer to make sure it's stable enough. Just because it exists it might be added to "proposed" and then be available to whoever wants to try it (and risk it) without having to go and look for it in bugzilla.

Just an idea, if silly forget about it

Yes you are right. I meant cvs access for me based on what ever merit they think I would have. The rest of the slobbering masses will take what I give them and like it.

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
