Hi there,
Removed kde 3.3 yesterday in favour of the 3.4 split ebuilds, but now I can't use xscreensaver's screensavers in kde. They don't show up in the screensaver widget, and I can't find xscreensaver.kss anywhere on my system. I have re-emerged xscreensaver and kdeartwork-kscreensaver numerous times, and I do have the xscreensaver USE flag enabled. I am at a loss here. Any help would be appreciated. If you need more info, please ask and I shall try to provide it.

Hi,
I have similar problems too. The old kde3.3 tricks do not seem to work. I thought then it was a xinerama issue, but emerge --newuse world after disabling xinerama didn't help either. I use the normal kde builds (not the split ones). And I want my xteevee back!
Any help or ideas welcome!

[ebuild R ] x11-misc/xscreensaver-4.22-r4 -gnome -insecure-savers +jpeg +kde -kerberos -krb4 -new-login +nls +offensive +opengl +pam -xinerama 0 kB

I believe the problem is ... the gentoo xscreensaver changed its hackdir to /usr/lib/misc/xscreensaver...
that's why kdeartwork-kscreensaver fails to find it during configure ... |

Is there a way to test that?

Is anyone else noticing this problem? I can't seem to find anything on bugs, but I might post one in a couple days.

grab the kdeartwork tarball, try running configure yourself.
This is what I got.

checking for lib/xscreensaver/flame... (cached) not found
checking for bin/xscreensaver-hacks/flame... not found

meawhile manually mask everything >=4.22 seems to be a reasonable resolution. xscreensaver doesn't even start properly according to some other xscreensaver bugs.
I am using 4.20, and everything works |

It would appear so. I have updated the page @ bugs.gentoo.org . Thanks for the workaround. _________________

From bugs-site: This should be fixed in kdeartwork-kscreensaver-3.4.2 (but it is currently masked). _________________

Here's what worked for me:
Make a link to xscreensaver in the /usr/lib directory
| Code: |
cd /usr/lib
ln -s misc/xscreensaver
