My most recent emerge -uDav world failed to compile control-center-2.10.1-r1.
It failed with:
Code:
...
checking for libmetacity-private... Package libmetacity-private was not found in the pkg-config search path. Perhaps you should add the directory containing `libmetacity-private.pc' to the PKG_CONFIG_PATH environment variable No package 'libmetacity-private' found
configure: error: Library requirements (libmetacity-private) not met; consider adjusting the PKG_CONFIG_PATH environment variable if your libraries are in a nonstandard prefix so pkg-config can find them.

following this post I did
Code:
emerge --unmerge metacity

then
Code:
emerge control-center

This went fine until I got the new error:
Code:
--------------------------- ACCESS VIOLATION SUMMARY ---------------------------
LOG FILE = "/var/log/sandbox/sandbox-gnome-base_-_control-center-2.10.1-r1-13965.log"

open_wr:   /vvar/tmp/portage/control-center-2.10.1-r1/image/usr/share/control-center-2.0/pixmaps/keyboard-repeat.png
open_wr:   /vvar/tmp/portage/control-center-2.10.1-r1/image/usr/share/control-center-2.0/pixmaps/keyboard-cursor.png
open_wr:   /vvar/tmp/portage/control-center-2.10.1-r1/image/usr/share/control-center-2.0/pixmaps/keyboard-volume.png
open_wr:   /vvar/tmp/portage/control-center-2.10.1-r1/image/usr/share/control-center-2.0/pixmaps/keyboard-bell.png
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Looks like a typo: /vvar
Is this worthy of a bug? Or have I done something wrong?

Will do when I get home tonight.
So how do I proceed from here? Am I stuck until problem is fixed?
I don't really care if control center is missing a few png's (which I may be able to sym-link manually)
I'd like to be able to force it to continue past the access violations, so I can once again `emerge world`

I just got in trouble for posting it there.
Quote:
@paul : this bug seems to attract a lot of unrelated 'sandbox violations' bugs.
Your problem has nothing todo with scrollkeeper and should be filed as a new bug
if it really is a problem. You're installing in /vvar dir while we normally
build in /var, that seems a bit odd to me.

I'm told it's unrelated to sandbox.
It's obviously a typo somewhere "/vvar" instead of "/var"
but I don't know where to fix that.
Now on bugzilla here https://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=100908
