|
|
Recently, I upgraded our 2.6.12-r4 Sun Ultra 5 machines from udev-058 to udev-062. Now, during the udev start sequence we get a "Bus Error" upon startup. Of course, this results in a non-functional system immediately and much harried effort to restore to working status. Has anyone else seen this error? It has happened on four different Ultra 5 machines thus far. I've already backpedaled to udev-058 for our Ultra-80 and E4500 machines (in case of unintended reboot) so I wouldn't know if this error is Ultra 5 specific or, perhaps, SPARC specific. |

Yeah, I've replicated this on two different machines as well (Blade 100 and Blade 1000). |

Unless you've already solved this quietly by now, I'd be grateful for some advice on how to leave devfs behind without running into those bus errors o'yours. As this debate has me mildly worried about the future of my gentoo-sources-2.6.12-r6-driven U10 now, I'd really like to move on to udev, but wouldn't want to screw it up... |

We've currently masked the affected versions of udev until such time that the issue can be resolved. So unless you are adjusting the keywords on the ebuilds, you shouldn't have a problem and the versions of udev you can emerge out of the box should work just fine. |

Thanks for the encouragement, my U10 now runs under udev(-058) regime. |

It's fixed for udev-064-r1 (probably udev-064 too but i didn't test it). _________________ Gustavo Zacarias
