Hi,

Yesterday it worked, but now I have problems with playing movies in fullscreen; it look like someting changed since yesterday...

I'm trying differents combinaisons, I recompiled many apps and I even did a revdep-rebuild (everything was ok), but I can't stretch the movie; I don't want to use the GL video driver, since I'm on a laptop and it slower.

Anybody have problems ?

Yes, but the video don't stretch... but totem works.

maybe I was using xv for the video driver, but it don't work right now...

Hmm, my biggest problem is that I don't what my config was when everyting worked; Now I see bizarre things, but I'm not sure if they are the problem...

for example:

agpgart module is not used by anyone
intel_agp module is not loaded, and no errors
xvinfo doesn't work, but looking at Xorg logs, the module is loaded correctly in Xorg

(oops! I posted to the wrong forum ;-)

Ok, I found something...

I think there is some problem with module loading, possibly since the
latest module-init-tools-3.2_pre7-r1...

I found this post : https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-p-2579106.html

and then, looking at Xorg.0.log :
(EE) GARTInit: Unable to open /dev/agpgart (No such file or directory)
(WW) I810(0): /dev/agpgart is either not available, or no memory is available
--) I810(0): Xv is disabled because it needs 2D accel and AGPGART.

And I tested this :

I have no /dev/agpgart !

#rmmod agpgart
#cd /lib/modules/2.6.12-gentoo-r6/kernel/drivers/char/agp/
#modprobe agpgart
#insmod intel-agp

and now I have the two modules are loaded... Still not sure how it help me, I'll try to
restart xorg.

EDITED:

Its working !

I had to stop xdm (gdm) and restarting Xorg with startx, he found /dev/agpgart and the mplayer video driver works again (it was XV).

So... What to do now ? I have a solution, but not sure who/what cause the problem...

Please MODs, move this in the multimedia forum !

I'm experiencing this too... but I ain't able to address the problem like you did.
Now I'll try a good modules-update, who knows.

It was solved by re-emerging module-init-tools; well that what I was told; I'll know for sure after I reboot ;-)

I don't think they changed module-init-tools's version number, but just recompile it.
