|
|
Hello everyone,
I decided to unmerge firefox in order to install deer park alpha 1, but have yet to install this correctly (I made a post for this yesterday). I wanted a good browser until I can get deer park alpha 1 to work, so I decided to go back to the stable firefox version 1.0.4, but emerge mozilla-firefox-bin instead to avoid having to spend time compiling it. This installed without errors, but when I tried to run firefox the process loaded (firefox-bin), but nothing came up. I then downloaded the firefox installer from the mozilla website, opened the installation program (firefox-installer), and the window for installation came up. When I clicked 'forward' to continue installation, however, it closed abruptly without error message.
This is interesting, because I had the same exact problem when trying to install deer park alpha 1. I also tried to start up the installer in console (I use kde 3.4). It gave me the following error:
Code: | BokuNoSekai firefox-installer # ./firefox-installer
*** glibc detected *** free(): invalid pointer: 0x081d1158 ***
./firefox-installer: line 56: 560 Aborted ./${BINNAME}-bin $@ |
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

You can either try to set the environment variable MALLOC_CHECK_ to 0, or recompile glibc with the nomalloccheck use flag.
(the first didn't work for me with abiword, but the second did) |

thorak: thanks for the prompt reply, but I tried both without success. I received the following output:

Nah, but the glibc your'e using now wasn't compiled with the "nomalloccheck" use flag, right? |
