emerge perl
everything went fine, until it starts to compile! and this was the error message!

If you compile perl5 on a different machine or from a different object
directory, copy the Policy.sh file from this object directory to the
new one before you run Configure -- this will help you with most of
the policy defaults.
`sh cflags "optimize='-O3 -mcpu=pentium3 -pipe'" miniperlmain.o` miniperlmain.c

I think this version of perl has had some other threads covering emerge problems. You might see any of those help (Portage & Programming forum).

toke.c should exist without having to be made. Any chance you're running out of disk space in the portage build directory? _________________ For every higher wall, there is a taller ladder |

I get almost the exact same thing.
<snippit>
p.h opcode.h opnames.h patchlevel.h perl.h perlio.h perlvars.h perly.h pp.h pp_proto.h proto.h regexp.h scope.h sv.h thrdvar.h thread.h unixish.h utf8.h util.h warnings.h -o av
gcc: compilation of header file requested
gcc: compilation of header file requested
gcc: compilation of header file requested
</snippit>
There's about 50 lines of the gcc: .... line
then I get
make: *** [av] Error 1
!!! ERROR: dev-lang/perl-5.8.0-r9 failed.
!!! Function src_compile, Line 267, Exitcode 2
!!! Unable to make
Plenty of drive space available, and I just updated portage and synced. I try to install perl (since it was taken out by the original upgrade attempt) and this is what I get. _________________ Undisputed Heavyweight Champion. If it's undisputed, WHAT'S ALL THE FIGHTING ABOUT?!?! -- George Carlin |
