I just switched to fluxbox from KDE and it's pretty good. The menu is pretty easy to customize, I've even added entries to mount and unmount my CD rom and floppy. I'm just curious, is there a theme to get transparent menus like with mosfet's liquide under KDE? Probably not, huh? Also, I've heard you can get desktop icons with the ROX file manager, but I can't figure out how. I've searched here and some other forums, and of course google, but just can't seem to find an answer. |

If you've got some spare time and some spare brain cycles, check these out:
http://xfree86.org/~keithp/talks/KeithPackardAls2000/index.html
http://www.eax.com/render/
The first (at a glance) appears to be an article on translucency. The second is the Xrender homepage, which seems very interesting (perhaps a bit dated ).
I wouldn't mind some menu/general transparency effects in Fluxbox (a la something like the Snail theme for Window Maker). Right now I think it's app dependent (i.e. eterm supports fake transparency as a terminal). |

I've tried to change the backgound and haven't had any luck... Reading the docs, it says to use:
rootCommand: bsetbg -f /path/to/filename/image.jpg
It doesn't have any effect, and I can't seem to locate bsetbg. |

Here's what I've used to set the background images...
Code: | rootCommand: bsetbg -t ~/.fluxbox/backgrounds/Kinder-big-bg.png
rootCommand: bsetbg ~/.fluxbox/backgrounds/influx.png
|
All I did was edit a style and put in the image I wanted. _________________ Quis separabit? Quo animo? |
