And by easiest I mean the least effort. I don't want to have to install, move stuff around, reformat etc etc. The easiest way I could see would be to have reiser4 compiled as a module and load it during install time. Mabye have the drive already partitioned and formatted to reiser4 would help a little with not needing reiser4progs installed (or whatever it's called).
Anyone have any hopefully easier solutions? |

Hi.
I've yet to 'play' with reiser4. It's on my list of things to do, but I didn't get there yet.
From what I've read, if you want to install using reiser4 you'll need a special live-cd that supports it. Then you need a kernel version that supports it - both vanilla-sources and gentoo-sources don't work. I think that mm-sources and nitro-sources are ok, but you should check. From my light reading, it seems that most people advice against using reiser4 in / and there seems to be an ongoing battle about reiser4 merits and shortcomings. If you don't want to use reiser4 for /, you can install using any of the usual methods and just choose an appropriate kernel. In the end, you'll have to create the partition and, depending on your goal, to move some data around. _________________ Jorge.
