|
|
There are now 3 builds of OpenOffice2 for AMD64 that are avaliable on the web.
Here is a link to a mirror containing the RPM files...
I am a bit surprised that OpenOffice.org has not announced that they have any 64-bit builds avaliable, however they are if you take a look under the development section of their mirrors.
ftp://ftp.linux.cz/pub/localization/OpenOffice.org/devel/680/ooo64bit02/Build-3/
This version appears to fix some of the issues that come from using 64-bit Java on a 64-bit system with 32-bit OpenOffice, as well as appears to start at comparable speed to if you are running a completely native 32-bit system. |

annoying bug : filetypes
one has to manually select the filetype in which he wants to save a file. _________________ cybikbase::~cybik() |

Uh...
Why is it a problem that one needs to select the filetype that you want to save a document as?
Additionally, you can set it to a default file format for each type. |

I don't know if they've put the amd64 build in the portage tree because the 5-10min loading time disappeared. Now it loads instantly. I did an emerge -uDav world which updated Openoffice to the .109 build. and I also noticed that blackdown jre+jdk got updated. It's also generally faster when opening documents etc. |
