When I try to compile gnome I get the following error:

| try to emerge libgnomecanvas separate, then continue with emerge gnome |

finally the solution was to correct the system clock making:
ntpdate -p8 tick.usno.navy.mil
after this, the gnome compilation compiled 70 packages.
