|
|
Hi,
i emerged the gnome 2.8.3 when it was release and i got a new "feature" that i don't like (didn't remember which version i had before, but didn't have this). When i move a file that is on my desktop i have a kind of border on my gnome desktop at the limit of the screen. How can i disable this? I found nothing on this forum and on google, but a friend of mine at work, have the same thing, so i hope we are not alone and somebody have a solution.
thx for help _________________ Programmer always try to make software idiotproof, but God always making better idiot

This happened to me when I upgraded to gnome 2.8x and I instantly noticed it. I've been on 2.10 and had forgotten about it untill I saw this mesesage...sure it's still there!!
Not sure if its a bug or feature |

This happens to me too.
It's more of a visual distraction.
I figure it signifies the Desktop as a Drag-n'-Drop Target.
like, open 2 Nautilius Folders and drag a file from one of them,
Drag it over the desktop and watch the border appear, then continue dragging it to the other window, and watch the desktop border disappear,
and the 'other' window becoming a drop target, and thus getting a border. |

Interesting. This is normal behaviour and linked to Nautilus. It can be changed because I ran 2.11.1 and downgraded to 2.10.1 after a few days. The border on mine only 1 pixel thick as apposed to two, as in your screen shot (File browser also draws a one pixel line as apposed to the obstrusive 2 pixel heavy border). I dont know if something in gconf changed or a config file, but I would lean towards maybe a gconf change.
Cant answer your question but it certainly looks like it can be changed. I would say start by scouring nautilus entries in gconf-editor. _________________ You're not afraid of the dark are you? |

No worries. Try posting your problem at: http://gnomesupport.org/forums
They are very helpful over there and someone should know something. I am running Nautilus 2.10.1 so that might also be it. Good luck. _________________ You're not afraid of the dark are you? |

Thanks for keeping us updated bumpert. I tink moving to Gnome 2.10 (which you should do) will give you a one pixel border which I think is the best you can hope to do at this point. _________________ You're not afraid of the dark are you? |
