Hello!

I am trying to install a gentoo on my Sparc Ultra60 and everything works fine except Xorg because I can't find a driver for my Elite3D. I read in several threads that I should use the sunffb-driver. But where do I get this driver from? It is not in the portage-tree as far as I know and so I searched with google but the only download I found was an outdated version of that driver! I also searched in this forum and did not find any link, too.

Please help me!

Tobias

[edit]
After a re-emerge of xorg-x11 the X-server worked fine.

first you have to

Code:
emerge afb-init

then change xorg-driver to sunffb
get afb.ucode from Sun
cp afb.ucode to /usr/lib and

Code:
rc-update add afb-init default

p.s. give me your email adress & I'll send you the afb.ucode file!

To be pedantic :)

Code:

rc-update add afb-init default

should really be
Code:
rc-update add afbinit default

There's no hyphen in the init.d script, unlike the package name. Confusing, to be sure.

For the record There's a few versions of 105363 on Sunsolve with 105363-38 being the latest, from 13-11-2001. Loading the contained afb.ucode with afbinit displays version 1.3.10

I think we see this question asked every 2 weeks here. It is too difficult
to locate the answer by search or something. I'd think this qualifies
for a sticky note, or else add a note on Elite 3D cards in the Xorg
notes.

There are instructions including a URL for the Sun patch site on which afb.ucode (the Elite acceleration microcode) resides in the third paragraph of text at http://dev.gentoo.org/~fmccor/. I thought there was a pointer to this in one of the sticky xorg-x11 posts, but maybe not. I've also place this information in the main (second) sticky xorg-x11 post in this forum. It's in the first post at topic 174481.

Regards,
Ferris
