|
|
Hello..I am going to go crazy with this one.
Code: |
net-mail/mutt-1.4-r3
net-mail/nbsmtp-0.81.4-r3
|
Now I can send mail fine, but when I reply to any emails it says "Mail Sent" but the mail just doesn't get there. I have tested this with someone else and it just doesn't seem to work. I have NO idea what to do.
This is the nbsmtp config I use in my .muttrc
Code: |
set sendmail = "/usr/bin/nbsmtp -d <ISPs domain> -h <ISPs smtp server -f <MY EMAIL ADDY"
|
Am I doing something wrong or what ?
Any ideas would be great as I am about to go bald from pulling out my hair

I found the problem myself. But alas I still don't know how to fix. The problem is that when I reply mutt puts the email address as "Joe Bloggs <joe@bloggs.com>" and I assume that it then tries to send the email to Joe Bloggs instead of the email address.
Anyone know what I might be doing wrong or what I can do to fix ?
Bit annoying to have to edit the reply to address for every email..

OK..this is going to drive me crazy but it seems that either mutt or nbsmtp is the problem.
I upped the debug level of nbsmtp and when replying it sends the mail with the To field like so:
Code: |
rcpt: JoeBloggs<joe@bloggs.com>
|
This is obviously the problem as when I send mail normally (without replying to someone or using my aliases) it comes out like so:
Code: |
rcpt: joe@bloggs.com
|
I have no idea whether this is mutt or nbsmtp but I do know that it is a problem that I don't know how to fix...
Any ideas ? _________________ choff. |

Hmmm.... that's quite a problem you got there.
Only thing I can think of, is in mutt set editable headers.
Code: |
:set edit_headers = yes
|
This will let you see exactly what address is in the 'To:' line. If the address looks funny, try changing it to 'To: joe@bloggs.com' see if it
actually sends it correctly. |

I managed to find the problem after much pulling out of hair and
testing. Seems it was nbsmtp that was the problem and was putting the addresses in some messed up format.
I have since changed to ssmtp and all is well. It was strange..it seemed to work for a while but then...poff...no longer.
Probably updated nbsmtp without noticing..
Anyway...thanks for all the suggestions
mutt + me = happy again
