I have been considering installing webmin...Is it worth it? Are there security issues involved?
Thanks!

No...webmin isn't worth it....It's much easier to just edit conf files coz they are so well documented. It eats resources and increases security risks. _________________ [ My sites ]: UnixTutorials : AniFIND : AnimeYume |

Thats the second helpful answer you've given people about webmin.
</sarcasm>
I would much rather use webmin to administer my network than remote shell. Especially from remote (ouside my network) because all computers with internet have a browser, not all have SSH (don't even think about telnet).
Security issues are few and far between. Webmin uses SSL for important bits (auth etc...) and its in such wide use that when a security hole is discovered, it is closed almost immediately. |
